Oia, pronounced Ia, is the most famous of all the villages of Santorini. It is known all over the world for the quiet life and the wonderful sunset, and it is definitely the most beautiful and picturesque village of Santorini. The village is also located at the top of an impressive cliff and offers amazing views of the volcanoes of Palea and Nea Kameni and the island of Thirasia. Oia is located in the north of the island, 11 km from Fira. It is a traditional village with beautiful houses in narrow streets, churches with blue domes and terraces with sunbathing. Its streets have many tourist shops, taverns, cafes and other shops. Oia is much quieter than Fira and the busiest area is the main pedestrian street that runs along it. There is a parking lot at the entrance of the village where guests can leave their vehicle and enjoy long walks on the scenic trails.

The volcano from here is much less imposing, but you can still have great views. Oia has many cultural attractions such as the Maritime Museum which houses a small library, objects from the marine life of the area and the remains of a Venetian fortress. Many artists fell in love with the area and settled there. For this reason, the village of Oia has many art galleries.

Oia also has a small port, Ammoudi, which you can reach with a total of 300 steps leading down. There, small boats can take you across to the island of Thirasia. Armenis beach is also there. The taverns in Oia offer guests delicious meals with fresh fish.
